Thanks Do Little Dolly Ch. SOG Scallops

My daughter needed a thank you card for a o-worker at her daycare, and she asked me to make her one.  I gave her one that had a Some Odd Girl image on it.  I checked and they have a scallops challenge, but I just love this Pixie Dust image of Do-Little Dolly for the daycare teacher.  I was working with this Moxie paper earlier and these colors of purple, pink and blue which I think my daughter since she is a girly girl so I did use this Pixie Dust image on the card-naughty I know.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch to make my scallops as well as a Nestabilities oval with scallops for this card.

Angel in Disguise Kenny K Ch. 29

My mother comes from a family of 13 children ....so I have nine aunts and three uncles and LOTS of cousins. We rent a hall to get together for Christmas.  I have a close  family and I gave several of my cousins that I babysat on a regular basis (now they are turning 28 and 30 years old), and one of my aunts Kenny K cards.  They got quite a kick out of them and were sure that I would give one to another one of my aunts...so when I gave her a card with an angel they were shocked and made fun of me.  So for my cousin Lyndsey's birthday this coming week I couldn't decide which image to use for her card.  Naturally I wanted a Kenny K, but she got the shopping Christmas image so I couldn't decide if she should get something a little bit naughty since she made the most fun of my angel.  She was always called "Lyndsey bear" when she was little so I decided on the adorable bear image with the sentiment from Whimsy "Angel in Disguise" for her.  However, for Christmas you can be assured she will have a sexy Kenny K card.

Follow your heart

I made a card for a friend who is having to make some tough decisions in her life right now so I thought the sentiment "Follow your heart" would be perfect.  This card is using the digital image of Hansel with flowers from the Stamping Bazaar.  They have a challenge this week that involves stitching which I have around the image and the outside of the card so the card can qualify for that.  Paper Pretties also has stitching so I will enter that one as well.  I used the sketch from the Sweet Stop for this week.

Greetings Farms has a challenge to have your image "pop".  I have a stamp set that I found at our Scrapbook garage sale this summer.  I think the set is called "Believe in Miracles".  It has a cute shepherd boy sleeping with a sheep that I used for my image.  I raised the head of the sheep and the walking stick of the boy by three images.  Then then sentiment of "Have Faith" is up on one pop dot.  For the layout I used this weeks Mojo sketch.

Fun in the Sun

Challenges:  MFTWS03
                   Paper Pretties for paper piecing
                   Pixie Dust for buttons
I used My Favorite Things Beach Bum stamp set and paper pieced her swimming suit from the DCWV Spring pack which has bright flowers. I used the Sixxiz Tim Holtz embossing folding that looks like sun rays on an orange piece of cardstock.  And I used the core-dinations glitter paper that is tan that looks like sand to me.  With this past week having temps of -30 this was a great card to work on.  I think today it is actually going to be warm, around 25.  We have usually gone to the Florida Keys the first week of February for my husband to attend an Astronomy Convention, but because of his surgery we won't be going this year so we have both been talking about how we are missing out on some warm weather.  Maybe next year- otherwise we will have to wait until about July around here.

Stamping Bazaar #11 & Kraftin' Kimmie Ch. 61

Today my husband had a MRI since I drove him so he could take a medication to relax, I took some images to color.  I didn't want to take my Copic markers along instead I used my watercolor pencils which I haven't used in quite some time.  So both of the cards today are using the watercolors.

For the Stamping Bazaar the challenge is to use punches.  I used the Nestabilities label #11 for the image and a tonic flower punch,  I was able to use my new Hansel image that I got early this AM - he is such a cute deer.  My son agreed with the purchase.  I followed the layout from the Skipping Stones sketch.

If the shoe fits...buy it

Yesterday my husband had his first IV cancer treatment which he hates getting "poked".  The worst part is that in order for insurance to cover the procedure he also has to get Interferon by subcutaneous injection.  Unfortunately, by supper time he was reacting to the Interferon by having chills and was shaking then became nauseated. Needless to say he had a rough night until about midnight.  I'm hoping today will be better for him. Since I was spending quite a bit of time keeping an eye on him, I didn't get a chance to sneak downstairs to work on a project until after midnight.  This is what I came up.

Using Jak Heath's digital image to support Katie I thought was perfect last night.  I colored the shoe blue for the Create Colour Challenge which is Pink, Blue, Grey, and white with the optional additional feature of flowers.  I found this beautiful soft pattern by Memory Box.  I think this will also work for this week Pollycraft has a challenge of pastels.

My favorite things sketch #2 - Happy Birthday Princess

Well my husband loved the card that I made him yesterday.  He usually gets up before me, and today he came back upstairs to thank me for the card as soon as he heard my alarm go off.  Today is post #100 for me - whew- that didn't take long.
Today I made a card using the Pure Innocence stamp Birthday Princess with the design sketch.
MFTWSC2

I have had this stamp set for a while; however, this is the first time that I have used it so it was NEW to me and the Jilibean paper I just purchased on Thursday.  So I will enter this card in the Pollycraft Challenge for something new since the papers and the stamp are new.

Through rain or shine

This Color Throwdown challenge is in honor of Katie Renz who lives in Washington State and was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and has started chemotherapy.  There is more information on her on the site.
http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/
Since my husband has stage 4 renal cancer and has gone through another surgery with the plan to re-start yet another treatment this coming Monday, my heart goes out to Katie and her family.  There are times that all you can say is, "Cancer sucks."  I feel for my husband since there is a lot of emotional things that go with the cancer that a pill can not take away or make better.  There are times that I wish I could take away the pain or do more, it is difficult to watch someone you love go through treatments and to feel helpless.  We always want to make things better or fix it so it is with pure frustration to not be able to do so.  That is why this card has so much meaning to me.  It is the umbrella that may be hiding a kiss or tears.  And it will be left for my husband to find by his computer when he wakes up tomorrow.
