Miss You

My son is in the Army Reserves.  Before he left, he told me not to send him cards because he knows that I tend to make cards that have embellishments and he said he would not have room in his trunk to store such items.  He also said he didn't want to be embarrassed by my homemade items.  So I did just that....I have only mailed him letters on standard notebook paper.  I received a letter from him yesterday asking for me to please send him a card since he misses "items of the civilian life".  So I had to quickly whip up a card for my boy.  I didn't want to make anything frilly.  So this is what I came up with.  I used an adorable image from Mo Manning and a wonderful sentiment from TLC

Patterned Paper:  Paper Studio; Paper Best

Happy Autumn to you

I can't believe how fast November is going.  Maybe it's just that I have too many things to do this year and feel overwhelmed.  Since both of my kids are gone there isn't anyone around to help....I actually hired someone to do my yardwork because I have so many trees and leaves.  I had quite a few of them cut down last week because they were over hanging the house and I was worried a storm would break a branch on the roof, and I couldn't climb up there to get it off.  Also, I have problems with the rain gutters being full of leaves.  For this card the twist was leaves and pumpkins.  I used an image from Doodle Pantry, and embossed leaves and well as had leaves on the die cut Spellbinder.  The image has curves/swirls in the vine as well as the pearls I added to the bottom.  The sentiment is from TLC, Create

Let it snow

Merry Monday challenge for this week is neutral snowflakes with dry embossing which sounds so easy....but it was a challenging to come up with something that I was happy with.  I used glossy cardstock and put velum over it with embossing of snowflakes.  I then used some Cherry Lynn dies that are very delicate and placed pearl brads in the center.  I added a gorgeous sentiment from TLC over a sparkly/glitter cardstock.  Then I added a bow in a rich brown to tie it all together.
I was suprised this past morning on Halloween to wake up to find snow on the ground.  Luckily it didn't last, but it sure has been cold enough. Terrible for trick or treating to be 29 degrees out.
