Yesterday I went shopping with my Mom for her dress for her 50th Anniversary and the party that she is planning to have. WOW - dresses are sooooo expensive and that doesn't mean that they are made well. When you are paying that amount of money, then the material is so thin so then you have to purchase such ridiculous undergarments besides. I am diabetic and have an insulin pump, where do you put that in a dress??? and then have access to it when you need to shut off an alarm or give insulin??? Almost forgot the shoes and alterations and that I basically need a second mortgage. I do love my parents and I give them lots of credit for being married for 50 years and they deserve a fun reception. I'm just looking for another excuse to wear this outrageously priced dress again, hehe.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous CAS card, Lisa Lynn.
ReplyDeleteI understand your problem with shopping a nice dress which 'hide' your insulin pump. Dresses are expensive here too and in fact you wear them not so often. You should wear it whenever you can, party or no party.
Wishing you and your parents a fun party!
xxx Margreet
Lovely card and hope you can sort out the dress/insulin pump issue.x [aNNie]

OH! what a lovely card love the hugs and kisses sentiment and such a pretty heart.
ReplyDeleteWe attended my niece's wedding a few years ago and she wanted long dresses for the women and tuxedos for the men, neither of us had them. We managed to get a "cheap" tuxedo. BUT my dress cost a lot with shoes etc etc. I thought I would never wear it again, so decided on a shorter length. Luckily I have had a few occasion that it could be worn since then, hubby's Tux has never been worn!
Hope your outfit is as you want :)

Beautiful CAS card and congrats to your Mum and Dad on their 50th anniversary -it will be ours next year-fingers crossed.I agree about the thinness of clothes even childrens -when shopping with my little grandaughters they love stuff and I think you would even struggle been warm with that in Summer never mind Winter!!!

Congrats to your parents for 50 years of marriage! That's awesome and definitely a reason to celebrate! Dresses are so expensive - I haven't bought "new" clothes for years. Here we have some amazing thrift shops where the used clothes are most times nicer and of better quality than those found in the shops. It's a bragging rights thing here too, to tell people where you bought your beautiful outfit, at the used clothing place, and I only paid X amount of dollars! (I should point out that socks, underwear, and shoes must be new, no thrift stores for those items! That would be gross!) Anyway, I digress! Your card is beautiful - I love hearts! And thanks so much for the link to the freebie!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain sistah!! I can't tell you how many times I've had to slip into the bathroom while wearing a fancy dress so I can just bolus for my dinner (sigh). The trials of diabetes eh?!! Post a picture of your dress! I wanna see what you went with!

ReplyDeleteDresses in the Washington DC area are extremely expensive . Congratulations to your parents on 50 years ! We just had our 40th and with my husband's new pacemaker/defibrillator, I am hopeful that we will make it to 50, 60, 70 LOL! We have been together since I was 16 years old , got married when I was 20 . Anyway I hope you have fun at the party and enjoy your new dress ! Please post some pictures of the big event!
Hugs,
Chriss
Fabulous C&S card Lisa Lynn! Sorry to hear of your dress struggles! My mom wore slacks to their 50th Anniversary party, so I did too! My top was fancy and I had nice costume jewelry, too! CONGRATS to your parents!

Love your cute card! I know about that expensive dress. I am a seamstress and used to sew to save money. Everything is so expensive nowadays that sewing is for enjoyment only. I can no longer save any money by making it myself. Thank you for sharing with us at The Brown Sugar Challenge.
