One smile begins a friendship

On August 1st it is Girlfriend's Day and August 3rd is Friendship Day. I made a card using the free image from Image That of two hedgies which is perfect for this.  The sentiment is a freebie from TLC.  Tomorrow morning, I'm meeting a friend for breakfast, so this will be perfect.

O Holy Night

I made another Christmas card using a Bugaboo image and a sentiment from TLC.  For this card, I made a tri-fold design.  I used Ice Stickles on the front snow areas.  I like this special fold since it looks elegant; however, it doesn't add extra paper and bulk for mailing.

Bless You

For our anniversary, my husband and I went out to eat at a very nice restaurant.  I had been there before with a friend, but this was the first time for my husband.  I told him it was expensive, but he was in a sentimental mood since with his cancer....we don't expect to celebrate another anniversary.  We had a wonderful meal and had agreed to share a dessert.  My husband was just a little shocked when the ipad that had the dessert menu didn't list any prices.  I just laughed, and said, "At this point, does it matter?"  We received  a box of chocolate truffles as a gift from the restaurant, and had an evening as best as we could.

Free as a bird

Now I grew up loving nature, except I have a few issues with birds.  First of all when I was three I was attacked by a rooster and my Grandma had to chase him with a broom to get him off of me.  So I have a natural "jump" when birds fly near by (which can even be several feet).  When I first was taking piano lessons, I had to wait for my parents to move the piano into the house when it was being built so it was stored in the attic of a barn so when I went to practice the barn swallows would dive at me.  Now I live in a wooded lot which is wonderful at times, but has it drawbacks.  We have cedar siding and the red headed woodpeckers believe our house .... well let's just say it is a large birdhouse.  My husband and I have talked about getting vinyl siding, but since he has cancer some of the home repairs and maintenance have taken second place.  My Dad has tried to help by putting some roof shingles to cover up the holes so we have an unique repair job at this time.  So when Paulette had this as one of her images in the promo for this week I just had to make a card and the sentiment should say "Free to live in my house". LOL

Count the stars

Today is our 12th Anniversary for my husband and me.  We have been through a lot over these years.  Dealing with children, cats, houses, cancer and ex-spouses.  Which we are all still dealing with hehe.  When I married my husband he had four cats which have all now passed, but have been replaced with three Siamese cats (one from the original four was a Siamese).  The kids have grown, and my step-daughter will be coming from Florida to visit this week.  My daughter is starting to pack to get ready to go back to college since she only has a couple weeks left at home. I called yesterday to try to arrange my son's senior pictures since he has been working a lot of hours this summer and hasn't done that yet.  This summer seems to be going by too fast.  One of the first dates I went on with my husband was to go star gazing since he has several telescopes and was into astrophotography.  The sentiment is from a great set from TLC, with two images and two word arts.  This is the one thing that my husband misses being able to do since having cancer since the telescope pieces are not just too heavy for him to lift and deal with.

Nature the art of God

Today is the terrific blog hop at TLC and a free sentiment that Paulette has available on the site is this beautiful verse.  I put it on a square along with patterned jungle papers that were available on a previous club at TLC.  I also included some wooden buttons that I thought went with the design.
