Best Witches

I actually did some stamping.  I made the background for the Halloween card using stamps from Skipping Stones.  The new image is from Karen's Doodles and the sentiment is from TLC, Create.  For my second card I used Christmas Tree from Unity Stamps and a sentiment from TLC, Create.  Basic Grey has a challenge for Sparkle so I used the Jovial paper and added gold ribbon, gold star and gold glitter Stickles.

Reason to party

One of my best friends is celebrating with her husband that he is still alive!  Not let me explain.  Last year, just after Labor Day, her husband suffered a massive heart attack and was not expected to survive.  Since then, he has controlled his diabetes which was diagnosed at the time of his heart attack, had a pacemaker placed, and now has an ejection fraction of 30%.  He worked for the railroad for many years, and I noticed that he had been losing weight and I thought he "just didn't look right".  I was concerned that he was diabetic since I am a nurse and have had diabetes since the age of 11 so I sent him a train card that I made in February urging him to see a doctor.  When I went to visit him after his heart attack, the first thing he said is, "You were right, I should I gone to the doctor sooner."  The other night he commented that he has now seen the doctor plenty.  I laughed and told him he wasn't suppose to make up for all those missed years in one year.  To celebrate his one year post heart attack anniversary and his upcoming birthday, I made him a card using Mo's image "The engineer" along with the sentiment from TLC, Create.  Mo's Challenge is for "B" so I used a black bow, blue bibs and bitty buttons on my card so it was BB.  I guess there is a bandanna on the engineer also.

For my second card, I used an image from Paulette's latest club from TLC, Create.  She has another club before the Christmas one that will begin October 24 thru October 28th.  It is called the In Between Club and check it out here.  The Christmas Club will start November 3rd and watch for more details.

Scared yet?

Well, we happen to have four cats, three Siamese, and one all black cat.  Nala our black cat really is a scaredy cat so it is funny when it comes to Halloween and you see all these mean black cats.  I found this free digital download and thought it was perfect.

Along came a spider....

I can't believe another week has passed.  It has been hectic around our house.  On Sunday night we realized that our refrigerator had died and that everything in the freezer had thawed.  So I had a mess to clean that out.  My husband and I went to look at new refrigerators and naturally we didn't agree on which on should be purchased.  My husband likes to have the newest gadgets such as the i-phone 5, i-pad, computers, etc; however, when it comes to appliances then he believes it is acceptable to take an open item with dents.  I love my husband, but sometimes he makes me so mad.  Then we come to the next issue....the new refrigerator is 1.5 inches taller than our current one which fits into the cabinet.  Do you think we could have someone come and deal with that before the refrigerator arrives? NO  So when the delivery men come they almost don't want to leave the refrigerator because it won't fit in the kitchen.  I told them that we were aware of that and that we would have a carpenter come cut the cabinet.  I worked 3pm - 7pm for a friend the other night so she could attend her son's volleyball game.  While I was driving to work, my husband called me to tell me that the radiation center finally called and that he was to start radiation on Wednesday.  I was scheduled to work so I tried to switch with people which didn't work out so I had to take a family leave day.        So finally on Thursday afternoon, the carpenter cuts the cabinet, and our refrigerator is fit in the kitchen.  Now we can finally go grocery shopping and fill the refrigerator.  The next issue is the dishwasher that has now stopped cleaning the dishes and we have bought several cleaners and it doesn't seem to be helping.  Now I think we are needing to go look for a new dishwasher.  My husband makes the comment that he saw that there was a Boush for around $600 at Best Buy and I just want to cry.  I saw several more which were between $800 - 900 so I just wonder what piece of junk he is looking at now.  I rather go by myself and pick what I want.

I did manage to work on a couple of cards today.  I did this spider card using Martha Stewart stickers and twine with the sentiment from TLC, Create.  The web on the top is a border punch from Martha Stewart.
The second card is an image from Cuddly Buddy and a sentiment from TLC, Create.

Gingerbread thank you

My daughter wants some cards to have at college to send out on her own.  She asked for some thank you cards and birthday ones.  She wanted the family addresses and felt she should send cards on her own since she is no longer a teen-ager.  I thought it was rather cute even when she asked for stamps.  Well, she is on the right track that she is at least acknowledging that other people exist in this world and that the family is important so I am proud of her and she is only twenty so I think she is doing pretty good.

I made this card using one of the newer Sugar Nellie digital images and a sentiment from TLC, Create.

Quick and simple

My daughter has been home from college and it has been great spending time with her.  We have been doing lots of shopping for some new clothes for her since she has lost weight.  I have been teasing her that she has cut into my crafting budget.  She has been so stressed with school this semester that I really worry about her.  I tried to spoil us today and we went for a massage which was wonderful.  It was rather relaxing that we had a hard time getting going afterwards.  We had to do some caffeine to get into our shopping.  I felt that I haven't had time to make cards in quite a few days so I made some quick and simple ones just to feel like I accomplished something.

I made a card using a digital stamp from TLC, Create that was in the last fall club.  Then I made a Thanksgiving card using this weeks Mojo Sketch.  Lastly, I made two cards using this weeks Splitcoast Sketch and sentiments from TLC.  One of the cards is for my Mom's Christmas present, since I am making her a bunch of sympathy cards.  I just love this font that is available in a great set from TLC, Create.  The Christmas card sentiment is also TLC, Create set that has a great image.

Sleigh ride

It's hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner as we start the first of October.  To me as I'm getting older the snow and winter is prettier on the cards than in person.  I guess it's a sign of old age when we no longer want to drive in the snow for the fear of possible car damage and rising insurance cost where in our youth we were exciting to get out in the snow and do winter activities.  Now the thought of putting on more layers is just exhausting in itself.  My card I made for Freshly Made Sketches and used a digital image from TLC, Create.
