Happy Easter

This week my kids were off on spring break.  My son is a junior in High School and my daughter was home from college.  She is a RA and was coloring some posters for the dorm and I was working on some cards.  My son asked if he could color too since we were both doing it.  Years ago he would color with me and he is actually good with Copics.  This is what he did.  I just feel bad we didn't have time to put it together.

Then on April 2nd it will be my nephew Greysen's 3rd birthday!  I made him a firetruck chocolate cake from scratch.  I always made cakes for my kids so its been a while, but this is what I came up with for him.  And kids are just so much fun to watch enjoy the moment.

Make it sweet

Colour Q has a wonderful palette of colors for this week and I used an image from Pink Gems called "Rollerskate Milly".  For the Gem of a Challenge it is "On the Move" so I thought this would be a perfect image for that.  And since she was holding a lollipop I used a sentiment from TLC - Life is short.

Gift of hope

Mo Manning has this adorable image off a boy with chicks which is just too cute. Since I have a big boy of almost 17 and a nephew who will be three in a few days this just does something to me.  When my daughter and I were in church she keeps pointing out the little kids too so I know she likes looking at them when they get all dressed up in their "Sunday best".

Mayzy Art has a challenge for Animal Prints which Paulette at TLC just had a club with animals so all the patterned paper is from that recent club.  The sentiment is also from TLC which is a set with two images and three sentiments.   The image is from Mayzy Art called Lion Tamer.

feeling hopeful

Well the temperatures are going in the right direction today we are to be in the upper 30's and hit 42 by tomorrow.  So maybe some of this snow will start to melt and maybe spring will come after all.  Mo's challenge is to make a card for the ladies and I also picked one with a robin trying to think of spring.  The sentiment is a wonderful set from TLC- Because of You made up of ten sentiments.

Life is calling

I finally made a card using the Viva la Verve Sketch for week 1.  For this I used a Bugaboo Silhouette stamp and Bugaboo has a inspirational picture challenge with rainbows.  I love the sentiment from TLC - Calling You which shows spring is coming (hopefully soon since we are still getting snow here in WI).  I used the Spellbinder - Picot circle and the black flower is the smallest one from that set.  The picture doesn't show the embossing very well in the flower and I put a pearl in the center.

Stays in the salon

I have a wonderful hair stylist who has been extremely reliable and I have been seeing her for about 15 years.  I have moved and even drive back to my old town to go get my hair done so it always appears that it bad weather when I have an appointment.  Unfortunately, she is needing major abdominal surgery and will be off for at least four weeks.  I wanted to make a card for her when I go for my appointment next week along with a gift certificate since she is now a single Mom.

little girl

Well, I think this image is just adorable by Lille Miss Muffet and the sentiment is from TLC.  I plan to give this card to my daughter, who is 20 years old, but you have to understand she is only 4'11 so to me she is still a "little girl" and will always be.  Unlike my son who is six feet tall.

I just love the color challenge at Colour Q this week.  I also knew that TLC had a vintage image with all the colors in it.  I find this image rather true and funny and a perfect sentiment to send to a girlfriend.

Yee Haw!

Well you would think I was on a Western theme lately because I just posted a cowboy image on Friday, but that wasn't why I used this stamp.  I have a few stamps (like the rest of you), but lately I prefer to use digital. I feel bad that my old stamps are collecting dust so I'm trying to pull them out and actually ink them up once in awhile.  The fact is that I am to the point that I really don't care to pull out my inks anymore, but once in awhile I force myself to do it.

Gid-ee-up for the girls!

Well, my son has his last day of school before spring break so he had tests and homework due in every class.  I feel bad for him since he pulled an "all nighter" again with me.  I stayed up working on my cards and he did his homework.  Usually it is very quiet - just the cats and me during the night, but last night, my son played his music which was interesting since I actually like some of it.  Several years ago, he would color with me and he is good at using Copics so it was interesting when I was coloring this image and showed it to him he laughed.  Then after I completed the card and told him it was a challenge to make a card for the girls he said he was interested in my card to give to a girl so I was curious.  He said that he told a classmate, "You should see me without my shirt on." so it would be funny to give it to her and say it was a self portrait which made me laugh this morning.  So here is a picture of my studly son - LOL.

I think we have all heard the saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket", but now I have a sentiment from TLC that says to put them all in one basket for Easter.  This set is actually a cute one that comes with 3 sentiments and an image so check it out.  I used an image from Doodle Dragon since I have a funny sense of humor.

Get cozy

Well, I had this stamp colored for Christmas, but never got to putting a card together so I thought it would be perfect for several different challenges.  Sassy Sally has one for decorative edges.  I used several Spellbinders a Resplendent Rectangle and Decorative Label One and then on the right side I used Martha Stewart border punch and made a wider strip.  I also put the sentiment on a pennant.  Merry Monday has a challenge for snowmen so this will work.  And then, I love doing the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge so I thought this worked out well for that.

Vintage chicks

Sweet 'n Sassy had a new release and I made a card using a new digi, but I didn't make a Z-fold card which is what they have for their digi challenge so..... I used this gorgeous vintage chick image from TLC to make a Z-card.  The sentiment on the inside is from the TLC Egg Citing Easter set.

Ewe's wooly wonderful

Well, I'm really trying to get into a spring mood even with our cold weather.  Krista Smith has this adorable image and she has a challenge to "Read all about it" which I remember reading to my daughter a lot when she  was younger.  She enjoyed books and especially "Mary had a little lamb".  Now she is in college studying to be a teacher and she just adores children.

chocolate chip cookies

My daughter, Amanda was home this past weekend with her boyfriend, Zach and the two of them made chocolate chip cookies.  Amanda loves to frost them and naturally add some sprinkles.  They had fun and were so cute.  My son has enjoyed the few that she left behind.  A Day for Daisies has this adorable image of a girl by the cookie jar.  On the inside of my card, I used a sentiment from TLC, Create that I placed in a cookie I made out of a circle and oval Spellbinder along with die cuts of chocolate chips/Hershey kisses.
