Feeling Hot Hot Hot

Hot pink that is...that is the Splitcoast Friday Free for all Challenge this week.  I made a card using the Mojo Sketch and Guylou's image called "Gabrielle and Ribbon".  I colored the ribbon pink for breast cancer, I added a doily which is part of the Guylou's Challenge, and ice stickles on the angel's wings.

My second card is for the Bugaboo Challenge this week which is a color challenge.  I used the "flowercan" image in where I was able to color the flowers several shades of pink.  I used this week's Stella Sketch.  I have been lucky to be sponsored as the Biggest Fan of the month so check out the website.

On the floor

Every now and then it is good to shock and surprise your teen-agers just so they understand what it is all about.   Last evening, my cats were being playful and I thought they looked adorable so I got down on the floor and was taking some photos of them.  Both of my kids came in the family room and said to me, "Mom, what are you doing on the floor?" like there was something wrong with me.  When I explained myself they just gave me a look as if I was crazy and I thought it was wonderful because that is how I many times feel in conversations with each of them.
For my first card I used this weeks Splitcoast Sketch along with the Colour Q challenge colors to make this card.  I added Crystal Effects to the water in the bottle to give it a shiny effect.  My second card is for the There She Goes Challenge which is a birthday and sketch challenge.

Scheduled chaos

It seems so long since I've had a chance to play in my craft area.  My husband had a scheduled procedure to give him an injection in his spine at the area where the nerve is giving him pain to see if they can give him some long term (few weeks) of pain relief.  He takes a lot of pain medication now which doesn't relieve all the pain, and gives him quite a few side effects.  Then I had to take my car in since my air conditioning wasn't working right.  And then I had to meet my son after school to get a work permit since he is 16 and I needed to provide a birth certificate and social security card.  That was just yesterday.....all my days seem to be going like that lately so that is why I haven't had time for fun until last night.  Since I had to sit in the waiting room for all these appointments that is also why I have been using my prisma pencils.

Curious kitty

Having four cats in our house sometimes I feel I can speak a different language.  Three of my fur balls are Siamese and then one is ALL black.  I love this image from Guylou's called "Cat and the fishbowl" because I know that all of my cats would sit and watch the fish.  I put bling for the sand stones on the bottom of the bowl and used Crystal Effect to make it look like water.  My second card is one using a TLC, create sentiment along with die cut hearts and some tea roses to make a dance card.

Blowin' in the wind

My husband had another MRI scan which means I drive him so that he can medicate with his pain medication and something to relax him to go inside the scanner so while I wait....I color with Prisma pencils since taking all my Copics is too much to carry.  I had this image put on Kraft since I wanted to have the lighter colors stand out.  Unfortunately, this is how my lawn looks too (a few too many dandelions).  I have mowed the grass which is growing rather quickly with all the rain we have had and it was fertilized so that is also helping it so hopefully that will dampen the weeds.

Images done

I have had some images colored for some time, but have not had a chance to put them together.  I have had intentions of having them completed for certain challenges, but.... that didn't happen.  It is funny how life things evolve and work and family take priority.  I had to take a class for work which involved taking tests each day so I had to STUDY eeks.  That is how the world is these days you have to keep learning so I wouldn't expect my job to be any different than it is for everybody else.  It is just funny that now what I did learn in school is many times the opposite of how we do it now.  I feel like such an old nurse when I am in class with these young fresh "new" nurses.
My first card is using the "Sweet Little Avery" image from Sassy Cheryl.  I was using this weeks color for Play Date Cafe, but was too late for the challenge.  I machine stitched around the card for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge for this week.
My second card is using "Blanche" from Saturated Canary for a birthday card for a friend.  I wanted to make it an elegant card so I used the beaded oval die cut around the sentiment and then black Stickles on the beaded parts.  I used Prima flowers and put Ice Stickles on them as well as the Paper Studio brads have a glitter finish as well.  If I only had a waist line like that!

Happy Birthday Judy

My sister-in-law's birthday is on Sunday and she has been playing flute for MANY years.  She has played in the pit for my husband when he conducted musicals, and unfortunately I don't have a picture of her doing it. When I saw this image from Mayzy Art, I just had to get it for her.  I know that she is a person who is "card worthy" and appreciates all the hard work that is put into a card since when I was at her house a few years ago she had one of my Thanksgiving cards on display that I had made several years before at that Thanksgiving so I know that she saves them.  For this card I distressed all the papers or inked the edges to destress them.  I added the three blue flowers to go with the Blue Jay on the flute.  I used a Sakura jellly glitter pen on the flute and bracelet to add sparkle to make it look metallic.  On the inside, I embossed a strip with musical notes on the bases and put a button to make it into an easel card since she uses them as a decoration and keeps them.

My second card is using this weeks Deconstructed Sketch which I think is perfect for ribbon with the four strips.  I got the mushroom image from Alley Way as a free download and thought the sentiment was just too cute.  My husband is always telling puns so I thought this was a perfect card from us.  When I showed him the card, he really like the burlap ribbon from Ribbon Carousel which I thought was perfect for the natural look with the mushrooms.  It was funny to see him feeling it like a child with a texture book. hehe.
