Rose Embossed Birthday Card

Today starts a new challenge at Catch the Bug and it's to make a CAS card. Now I think that I have said this many times, but they freak me out with white space. And especially if it is flat and not dry embossed. So this week, I made two cards just to force myself to have to do it.  It is using the image from a set, Mini Set Roses and I flipped the one image so it would be facing the other direction. I then heat embossed the sentiment. I put the panel on a piece of patterned paper and let just a 1/4 of an inch show before mounting that onto white cardstock. Then I did one in yellow.

I have been trying to make several Christmas cards each month so that at the end of the year I am not rushing to get them done. Sometimes that is easier said than done. Here is one of the newer stamps from Bugaboo called Winter Penguins Collage. I added bling to the bigger snowflakes to give it some extra sparkle.

Today at Catch the Bug is New Release day and on my card I have September Word.  I used it as the main image and my teammies used it with other images.  I have a hard time with CAS cards since white space freaks me out so I did this with black, hehe. I just added washi tape in the corners.

Born to Ride

I made this card for my children to give to my ex-FIL for his upcoming birthday. He is in his 70's and takes his wife riding so I thought this was a perfect card for him. They are just upset that they have to share, lol. The image is from Art Impressions, Born to Ride, the sentiment is from TLC, Create.  I just used this sentiment the other day with birthday pigs so another use for the sentiment, hehe.

Welcome back Teacher

I have been making cards for my daughter to give to her students/parents and now this one is for her. I am so proud of her being a teacher and she is so good with her students. She has already told me when her field trip is when they come to Capital so I will meet them there and help her so I took the day off for that as well as her birthday.
For my card, I used a stamp from My Favorite Things Class Act (which is retired) and sentiments from Darcie's All Write. The background I sprayed with Angel Mist Spray which doesn't show that wonderful shine and sparkle in the photograph.

The new back pack I bought my sweetheart for school...just like when she was a kid, lol.

You really measure up

I had this card ready, but just didn't get it posted last week for the Sketch Saturday Challenge. The week was crazy with my BFF's daughter losing her brand new FIL.  My office mate who ruptured her achilles tendon while I had my sinus surgery has been non-weight bearing and then fell and broke a rib.  So she was off due to having pain so I was working extra so it's just been crazy. Later today I will be driving to see my parents and kids.  I plan to take this card that I made for my daughter to use since she is a teacher and wanted some special thank you cards.  It is from Darcie's Stick Together. I have been trying to get quite a few cards done this month.

Sports Loss of your Father

Last Saturday I went to my BFF's Daughter's wedding which was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. This is a group of 3 other nurses and myself that have been friends for 30 years and it's just wonderful to see our babies grown and moving on with their own lives. Then the sad part....the Groom's Father was scheduled for a triple heart bypass surgery on Wednesday and instead God decided to take him that night after the wedding when he went to sleep.  So this beautiful couple went from being on cloud 9 from getting married to being devastated with the loss of an immediate family member. As a person that has lost a husband...I know what it is like to see your kids hurt and I think that's why this is hitting me so hard beside knowing all the people involved.
So this is the card I made for the Megan and her new husband Jason on the loss of his Father. It is using a sentiment from TLC, Create.  Jason wrote a letter that was endearing tribute to his Dad and thanked him for being at all of his sporting events so that's why I thought this was appropriate paper for him.

I just had to get this stamp from Newton's Nook, Gull Friends.  And I heat embossed the sentiment. I noticed that I must have pressed hard to smudge the "l", but thought it would look like gull poop, lol. I dry embossed waves on the background.
