Trust in the Lord

I can't believe want happened in Boston.  My heart goes out to the people affected by that disaster.  In a few weeks we were to have a large race "The crazy legs" which now may be cancelled due to this tragedy.  It is unfortunate that now we live in fear.  That is what inspired this card.  Todays Splitcoast Color challenge also had a twist to use a sentiment as the focus.

Santa

As I said before, I am trying to use some of my stamps that I have in my stash that I just haven't used in some time.  I pulled out this large Santa stamp and inked him up and added some Stickles to hat.  I used a TLC sentiment, and then found an embellishment from K & I that I don't know how long I've had.  Well, I'm working my way to getting some Christmas cards done and I just love the sketches at Merry Monday.

Life can sting

I just love this adorable little image from Saturated Canary and it so reminds me of my daughter when she was younger.  Paulette at TLC has the perfect sentiment for this.  Her set actually comes with paper and an image of a jellyfish.  I mail my daughter a card each week at college and she is a sophomore.  This past week she actually mailed me a letter and she downloaded some sentiments and glued them to the paper.  It was so sweet - it made me cry which takes a lot.  As she describes in her letter, I have usually been the strong, hard a** and now that she is on her own in college and a RA and has to deal with other students she appreciates her upbringing.  WOW - she is only twenty and I think she understands what it is like to be a parent.  Now my son, who will be turning 17 in a few day, well he knows everything already and to him I'm just a dumb a**.  They couldn't be more different.  I'm going to have a wait quite a few more years for him.  At least I still have hair.

Always on my mind

I made this card and distressed the edges of the paper with my scissors.  The sentiment is from TLC.  I used my rose Spellbinders to make the flower.  To me it just feels awkward since I don't have any coloring on this card.  I forget that I can actually make a card without doing that.  I did make this into an easel card.

Paulette's Birthday

Paulette at TLC who gives us so many freebies has her birthday today.  Check out the website not only is this card on the site, but most of the DT posted a surprise this AM with the help of her sweet daughter Bri and have some beautiful cards using this same image that she offered on her site some time ago.   I know we all like to get cards and presents, but I think she would love just a happy birthday greeting. I know we all have stress in our lives and are busy, but a little love goes a long way.

Water pitcher

My Grandmother passed away, but I keep having dreams about her.  It would have been her birthday on Friday and naturally I was thinking about her.  I made this card with her in mind using an image from Doodle Pantry.  I actually have a vase similar to this with silk lilacs in it that is a remembrance of her since she had a large lilac tree in her yard.  My Grandmother also had a garage area with lots of  antiques so that is why I like this image; however, she did some cleaning years back and got rid of most of it not realizing the value of it.  As a child, she would let me play with these items, so they had sentimental value to me so I wish I knew she was getting rid of them.

Happy Trevor Day

My son will be 17 on April 22nd so I made this card for him using the free image from "Image That".  The sentiment is a custom one from TLC.  I put glossy accent on the balloons to give them a shine.  The one good thing is that he has had his drivers licence for a year and he had done a good job driving.  At least I can give him credit for that.
