Abundant Blessings

My Mother-in-law, surprisingly passed away yesterday morning at an Assisted Living Facility.  My husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago and now his Mother passed away.  She was a very independent woman the reason that she wasn't able to live alone anymore was that her vision was so bad that she was blind.  She had attempted several eye surgeries which were not successful.  My sister in law received the call that she took her pills this am and when they went to check on her later they found her so it appeared that she had a major heart attack or stroke.  So I wanted to send some sympathy cards to my step-daughter and step-son that live far away and I'm sure will not be able to attend their Grandmother's funeral.  So when I made the cards from this wonderful set that I just got from Unity, I also made a birthday card.  I made the card according to a video that I saw at Unity.

Pumpkin Thanks

I have to admit that one of my favorite things is to blend Distress Oxide Inks and make my own background paper.  I actually found my heat gun that my Dad had packed away for me when he was cleaning my basement and it was like Christmas opening a present (since I had replaced it) so now I have one upstairs in my craft area and one downstairs.  So I do my ink blending upstairs and my embossing downstairs so it works out well.  For this card, I just had FUN!!!

There's no place like HOME

I have this wonderful die set from My Favorite Things and I really struggled with what sentiment to use for the card.  I wanted a card for my stash for a new home.  It's just "my issue" because with my husband passing away I struggle whether I want to stay in my house or sell it.  There are the memories in it of raising my family and now I have done a lot of remodeling yet I feel haunted by the memories at times.  Let me tell you in a couple more weeks I will have wished I sold it when I have to rake all the leaves!!!
For this card, I embossed the sentiment in white.  And I cut out all the die pieces for the home and put a heart on the roof.  One of the clouds is on a foam glue dot to stand out.  And I dry embossed the white background.

There were several challenges that I thought this Elvis Bear from Imagine That Digistamps would be appropriate for.  I made him before in blue, but this time I went for a wild neon green and some gold stars.  I added glossy accents to the sunglasses and stickles to the pantsuit and sleeve.

Here is a card that I made for the Imagine That Digistamp Thursday Inspiration using one of the newest releases, called Ellie's Flower Costume.  I colored it purple and added gold trim.  I have my friend's granddaughter that this card will be perfect for, and she is just not a pink baby.
